Frequently asked questions

How much do your miniature dachshund puppies cost?+

Our puppies range from $1,000 to $1,500 depending on coat type, color, and pedigree. Long-haired and rare colors (English cream, isabella, dapple) sit at the higher end. Pricing includes first vaccinations, microchipping, deworming, vet examination, a puppy pack, and our lifetime health guarantee.

What is included with my puppy?+

Every puppy goes home with: AKC registration paperwork, a starter food supply, a blanket carrying our scent, a collar, a sample of supplements, a written health guarantee, a vaccination & deworming record, microchip registration, and lifetime breeder support.

Do you require a deposit to reserve a puppy?+

Yes. A non-refundable deposit of $1,000 secures your puppy and is applied toward the final price. Deposits are accepted only after we've reviewed your application and had a phone or video call.

What is your health guarantee?+

We offer a comprehensive two-year genetic health guarantee covering hereditary and congenital conditions. Our breeding dogs are health tested for IVDD predisposition, PRA, and other dachshund-specific concerns. See the Health Guarantee page for full terms.

How are the puppies socialized before going home?+

Our puppies are raised in our home — not a kennel. They are exposed daily to household sounds, gentle handling, children, our other dogs, and basic crate and potty training from week 5 onward. By the time you bring your puppy home at 8-10 weeks they are confident and adaptable.

When can I bring my puppy home?+

Puppies leave at 8 to 10 weeks of age, depending on size and developmental readiness. We will not release a puppy earlier — those final weeks with the litter are critical for behavioral health.

Do you ship puppies?+

We do not ship puppies as cargo. Buyers can pick up in person or, for an additional fee, we can arrange a private in-cabin flight nanny. We also welcome buyers to drive in and meet us.

What food do you recommend?+

We feed and recommend a high-quality small-breed kibble (we will tell you the exact brand when you bring your puppy home) supplemented with bone broth and occasional fresh toppers. Sudden food changes can upset their stomachs — we provide a transition guide.

Are miniature dachshunds good with children?+

Yes — when socialized properly and matched to the right family. Our puppies are raised with children visiting regularly. We will be honest with you if a puppy's temperament is not a fit for a household with very young kids.

How long do miniature dachshunds live?+

Healthy miniature dachshunds typically live 14-17 years. Proper weight management, careful handling of their backs, and routine vet care are key to a long, happy life.

Are your puppies AKC registered?+

Yes. All puppies come with AKC limited registration (full registration is available for approved show or breeding homes only). Pedigrees trace back to championship lines.

Do you offer a waitlist for upcoming litters?+

We do — and joining the waitlist is free. Submit an application and we will be in touch when we have a planned litter that matches what you're looking for.

Can I visit your home and meet the parents?+

Absolutely. After your application is approved we welcome scheduled in-person visits. Meeting our dogs and seeing how they live is the best way to know you're choosing the right breeder.

What if I cannot keep my puppy in the future?+

Our contract requires that the puppy come back to us — at any age, for any reason. We will always take a dog we've bred back into our home. No Rachel puppy ever ends up in a shelter.
